The combination accelerates AI workloads while reducing the power demands of next-generation data centers and at the edge, creating a powerful European alternative to today’s AI infrastructure stack
DRESDEN, Germany — September 15, 2026 — In response to accelerating global shifts in geopolitics, evolving microeconomic pressures, and the growing imperative for data sovereignty, FMC and EUCLYD, headquartered in Eindhoven, The Netherlands today announced a strategic collaboration to develop next-generation GPU-replacement technology for AI workloads, powered by FMC’s advanced memory solutions and EUCLYD’s Craftwerk™ technology. The combination of FMC’s highly efficient persistent nvDRAM+ and high density Cache+ memory technology and EUCLYD’s advanced GPU architecture is designed to close a widening power and cost gap in AI infrastructure: AI inference is projected to overtake training as the largest single source of data center power consumption by 2028, according to McKinsey, and more than $130 billion in U.S. data center projects were already blocked or delayed in the first quarter of 2026 due to energy constraints.
The collaboration was announced during the AI Infra Summit 2026, hosted by Kisaco Research at the Santa Clara Convention Center, and brings together two companies each contributing critical technology toward a European sovereign AI infrastructure.
As European industries, markets, and governments increasingly prioritize keeping critical data within sovereign borders, the need for a new class of AI infrastructure has become urgent. This collaboration aims to address that need by delivering a future-ready platform purpose-built for Europe’s regulatory, security, and performance requirements.
The joint initiative will focus on designing and enabling an advanced AI infrastructure platform that combines:
- High-performance GPU-replacement architecture optimized for large-scale AI workloads.
- FMC’s next-generation memory technology, including its persistent nvDRAM+ and high density Cache+, to overcome traditional memory bottlenecks and enable scalable, efficient KV cache handling, model state storage, and fast recovery.
- Seamless scalability, both vertically and horizontally, across diverse deployment environments — helping partners scale AI systems without relying solely on increasing conventional DRAM capacity.
- Enhanced security frameworks aligned with sovereign data requirements.
- Significant power efficiency improvements, through integrated low-power compute and memory with reduced data movement, lowering total cost of ownership and environmental impact.
“This collaboration reflects a shared vision for the future of AI infrastructure — one that is not only powerful and scalable but also aligned with Europe’s strategic priorities of data sovereignty and energy efficiency,” said Thomas Rueckes, FMC’s CEO. The combination of EUCLYD’s innovative compute architecture and FMC’s persistent nvDRAM+ and high density Cache+ creates an opportunity to explore new approaches to AI system architecture.”
“Europe cannot achieve AI leadership without leadership across the critical technologies of the infrastructure stack,” said Bernardo Kastrup, Founder and CEO of EUCLYD. “This collaboration connects complementary European innovation in compute, memory, and systems. FMC’s advanced memory technologies complement our compute and AI factory architecture and can help turn Europe’s semiconductor strengths into globally competitive AI infrastructure.”
The companies will collaborate closely on architecture, system integration, and ecosystem enablement, with further technical milestones and deployment timelines to be announced in the coming months.
