Memory Technology, Digitalization and Startup Executives join FMC as Senior Advisors

  • Dr. Olaf Herzog, Chuck Dennison and Greg Schmergel join FMC as Senior Advisors, bringing expertise in manufacturing data digitalization, memory technology and commercialization
  • Appointments strengthen FMC’s path toward industrializing DRAM+ and CACHE+

DRESDEN, Germany – October 12, 2026 – FMC, a Dresden-based leading semiconductor and memory chip company, today announced the appointment of three new Senior Advisors: Dr. Olaf Herzog, former Senior Vice President Corporate Supply Chain, Data and Digitalization Strategy at Infineon Technologies, Chuck Dennison, former Vice President of Optane Memory Process Integration at Intel Corporation, and Greg Schmergel, Co-Founder and former CEO of Nantero. The appointments further strengthen FMC’s expertise across manufacturing scale-up, semiconductor operations and business development as the company advances DRAM+ and CACHE+ toward commercialization.

The three advisors join FMC at a pivotal stage in the company’s development. As FMC continues to advance its differentiated memory technologies and expand its industrial footprint, the company is building the operational, manufacturing and commercial capabilities required to support long-term growth and future production at scale.

Dr. Olaf Herzog brings over 25 years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, factory integration, supply chain management and Industry 4.0. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President Corporate Supply Chain, Data and Digitalization Strategy at Infineon Technologies, following leadership positions spanning factory integration, manufacturing systems and global supply chain operations at Infineon, GlobalFoundries and AMD. At FMC, he will advise on systems integration across foundry, backend manufacturing and supply chain operations.

Chuck Dennison joins FMC after a distinguished career spanning Intel, Micron Technology and Ovonyx. He began his career in advanced memory process integration at Micron, where he managed DRAM and SRAM process integration teams before helping develop phase-change memory as VP and COO of Ovonyx. He later returned to Micron to lead NAND Process Integration, and most recently served as Vice President of 3D XPoint/Optane Memory Process Integration at Intel. At FMC, he will advise on memory process integration, manufacturing readiness and technology scale-up.

Greg Schmergel looks back on more than two decades of building and leading memory technology companies. As Co-Founder and CEO of Nantero, he spent over 20 years developing and commercializing NRAM memory technology. In addition to his entrepreneurial background, Schmergel brings extensive experience in strategy, fundraising and commercial partnerships. At FMC, he will advise on strategic business development, partnerships and commercialization.

Thomas Rueckes, CEO of FMC, said: “As we advance DRAM+ and CACHE+ toward commercialization, it is critical that we continue building expertise across technology, manufacturing and business development. Olaf, Chuck and Greg each bring unique experiences that directly align with what is ahead of us. Their decision to support FMC further validates both our technology and our ambition to build a globally relevant memory company from Europe.”

Dr. Olaf Herzog, Senior Advisor to FMC, added: “FMC has built an impressive technology foundation and is now entering the phase where industrial execution becomes increasingly important. I look forward to supporting the company as it develops the systems, processes and manufacturing partnerships needed to scale successfully.”

Chuck Dennison, Senior Advisor to FMC, stated: “FMC is developing a highly differentiated memory technology that combines DRAM-class performance with non-volatility, addressing needs that are not met by today’s mainstream memory solutions. As memory becomes increasingly important for next-generation computing systems, FMC has the opportunity to establish a meaningful position in an area of growing strategic relevance for both Europe and the global semiconductor industry.”

Greg Schmergel, Senior Advisor to FMC, closed: “FMC combines differentiated technology, strong intellectual property and a clear commercialization vision. The company is set to become an important European innovator in memory at a time when memory is emerging as one of the defining challenges of the AI era. I believe FMC can help address a critical gap in Europe’s semiconductor landscape while making a meaningful contribution to the future of global computing infrastructure.”

Together, the appointments further strengthen FMC’s ability to scale its technology, industrialize production and advance its long-term ambition of building a globally relevant memory company from Europe.
