Appointment brings deep expertise in strategy, financing and scaling high-growth deep-tech companies to support FMC’s next phase of growth
Dresden, [14 September 2026] – FMC, a leading semiconductor and memory chip company, today announced the appointment of Dr. Torsten Löffler as Chief Strategy Officer (CSO). Having previously supported the company as a board member and investor, Löffler now joins FMC’s executive leadership team as the company advances its memory technologies toward commercialization and large-scale manufacturing.
Löffler brings more than 25 years of experience spanning industrial technology, entrepreneurship, venture capital and corporate strategy. Most recently, he served as Investment Director at the DeepTech & Climate Fund (DTCF), where he helped build the €1 billion fund from the ground up and led investments totaling more than €500 million across the portfolio. Prior to DTCF, he founded and scaled SynView, a THz inspection company, through venture and public financing to a successful exit. He later restructured and led an industrial technology company as CEO and CFO, guiding it through a strategic acquisition.
As Chief Strategy Officer, Löffler will support FMC’s strategic development, financing initiatives, industrial partnerships and scaling roadmap as the company prepares for its next stage of growth.
Thomas Rückes, CEO of FMC, said: “Torsten combines a skill set that is rarely found in a single individual. He has successfully founded and scaled technology companies, led strategic transactions, built one of Europe’s most important deep-tech investment platforms and has already developed a deep understanding of FMC as a board member and investor. As we move toward industrialization and commercialization, his experience will be invaluable in helping shape and execute our long-term growth strategy.”
Dr. Torsten Löffler, Chief Strategy Officer of FMC, added: “Over the years, I have worked with many deep-tech companies as an entrepreneur, executive and investor. FMC stands out through its differentiated technology, strong intellectual property and clear path toward commercialization. Memory is becoming an increasingly critical component of future computing systems, and FMC has the opportunity to establish itself as a globally relevant player in this field. After supporting the company from the investor side, I am excited to join the management team and help drive the next phase of its development.”
The appointment further strengthens FMC’s leadership team as the company continues to build the technological, financial and organizational foundations required to bring DRAM+ and CACHE+ to market and establish a globally relevant memory company from Europe.
About FMC
FMC is a leading semiconductor and memory chip company based in Dresden, founded in 2016 to develop revolutionary memory chip technology. Based on the thin-film material hafnium oxide, the company has created a new class of memory cells with its persistent nvDRAM+ and high density Cache+ chip – more sustainable, faster, and cost-efficient. Thanks to its extremely low power consumption, the technology significantly reduces the energy demand of AI data centers, laying the foundation for their scale-up in Europe and worldwide. FMC is now a fabless company, meaning it designs, develops, and markets its own products while outsourcing production to contract manufacturers (chip foundries). FMC is backed by investors including HV Capital, the DeepTech & Climate Fund (DTCF), eCAPITAL, Vsquared Ventures, Bosch Ventures, Air Liquide Venture Capital, M Ventures (Merck), Verve Capital Partners and other international investors. The company is led by CEO Thomas Rückes. For more information, visit FMC | Persistent DRAM+ & Cache+ Hybrid Memory for AI Efficiency
